A simple and flavorful recipe for cooking a whole chicken in a crockpot.
Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 pounds)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 lemon, quartered
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or parsley)
Instructions
- Remove the giblets from the chicken.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
- Season the chicken inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Place the lemon quarters and fresh herbs inside the cavity of the chicken.
- Place the chicken in the crockpot, fillet side up.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Remove the chicken from the crockpot and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add vegetables like carrots and potatoes in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- You can use the leftover bones to make chicken broth.
